Hotels for O2 Arena

Have just booked 2 tickets for the Strictly Come Dancing Live tour at the O2 Arena in february for the wife for Christmas and was wondering if anyone knows of any good / cheap hotels near that area.
Will probably be taking the train from Portsmouth due to parking charges on Fri 6th Feb and staying for 2 nights, unless parking is available at the hotel at a reasonable price.
Any suggestions?

It really isn't a nice part of London to make a weekend of it. There is a holiday inn express near, also an ibis and Novotel in Greenwich and a Marriott in Docklands.
There is the http://www.thamesclippers.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=35&Itemid=43 sevice from central london to the O2.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
the jubilee line which serves the o2 is very well connected to the rest of the underground so really there is no need to stay near the o2 cos theres not a right lot nearby. you would be better staying in the heart of london.0

The Holiday Inn Express at Greenwich is one of the closest hotels to the O2. It has a nice chinese restaurant underneath it called The Peninsula. The hotel does charge for parking but is within 15 mins walking distance of the O2. Also close by is a Sainsburys, Cinema and a few more restaurant.
Granted Greenwich isn't a particularly des-res but it depends whether the OP just wants to flake out after the concert or still have the energy to travel. The Hotel/O2 are only 15-20 mins away from Central London and Greenwich itself near the Cutty Sark is a nice touristy place and there's the National Maritime Museum there which I think is free. The man without a signature.0 -
try the Custom House Hotel well within walking distance, I have used them loads of times, nice restaurant, comfy rooms, nice pub within the hotel and pretty reasonable.
Edit, sorry I was thinking Exel, not O2, but still pretty close. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
We stayed at Holiday Inn Express in Greenwich last time we went to The O2. Nice clean rooms, 10 mins walk. Just no hot breakfast!OU Student! - ED209, SDK125, DSE212, SK124, DSE141, SD226, DXR222, DD303, DD307 = BSc Psychology0

If you have a car there's a McD's on Bugsby Way, Charlton, about 1/2 mile away from the Hotel. The man without a signature.0 -

Not Hotel but did you know you can get the train to Victoria from £3pp each way? On the National Rail site enter Portsmouth to London Victoria, then advance singles, none showing yet for Feb but you can experiment by putting in earlier dates to get some idea.
The journey to Victoria is slightly longer than to Waterloo and you do have to travel on the exact train you book but if you dont need the flexibility it has to be a bargain.0
