Moorcroft Debt Recovery - Quick Question

Hi all
I've received a letter from Moorcroft Debt Recovery who are chasing my debt on behalf of EGG. CCCS advised me to move my standing order token payment of £1 to Moorcroft but they are saying that they will not accept £1 or Standing Order payments.
Moorcroft are also saying that they have no paperwork from EGG and that CCCS should be contacting them with my details so that they can start to receive direct debits payments from us. I went back to CCCS who said that basically this isn't their responsibility and just to follow their original advice of moving the Standing Order to Moorcroft.
Can anyone advise me please as I seem to be stuck in an ever decreasing circle
Not sure what other info you need but the debt is for £4000.
Thanks
Blankie

Lots of things people can say about moorcroft.. but the swear filter would get it.
They will have to accept what cccs say, and don't give them any more than you can afford.Deal with everything in writing and keep backup copies. Put it on standing order then they cannot change any details without your permission.
I am sure others may be along with a lot more advice..good luck.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
perhaps you could clarify your situation a little
you are making payments to one or more creditors of £1 ?
you have been advised by CCCS to do this?
is this a precursor for a DMP with CCCS or do you not have enough surplus to do a DMP?0 -
Okay back to basics. What have you received from Egg regarding Moorcroft ? Did you receive a letter from Egg about Moorcroft , did it say they have sold the debt ? Phone Egg ask them what the situation is and to confirm in writing .0

Great advice from stapeley there - take a breath, clarify everything and figure out exactly where you stand.
I know that Moorcroft aren't very popular (which DCA is?) but I found them generally reasonable to deal with. That said, I only owed them a few hundred pounds, so I suppose I wasn't 'debt enemy #1'

I missed a default letter from a cc company , I then got a threatening letter from a DCA . When I rang CC company to make a payment, they said " we are no longer dealing with this matter . You will have to contact the collection company". What I failed to ask and they did not tell me ,was they had sold the debt on . This meant I had to deal only with the DCA .
In other cases a CC COMPANY will use AGENTS to collect . These agent will take out a fee from any money they receive, and pass the rest to OC .If the OC do not receive what they think is enough each month they often change the collection agents . This is why at each occasion you hear from a NEW collection company you MUST request a notice of assignment from the OC .0 -
Hi there and thanks for the replies so far.
I'll try and answer all your questions.
We are currently paying 6 creditors £1 per month by standing order. This has been for approx 4 months. We have been taking advice from cccs who have advised us NOT to send our financial income/expendure to any of our creditors. Because we do not have any funds left over after our outgoings we are not on a DMP.
The letter from Moorcroft says:
We have been instructed by EGG BANKING PLC
To collect your overdue debt of £4130.59
It is a legal requirement to send a notice of Intended litigation before legal proceedings in the County Court are issued. This letter fulfils this requirement even it it is not actually read by you.
To prevent legal action from being taken it is essential that you settle this debt without delay. Payment should be submitted in full within 7 days or contact made with this office immediately, by telephone on xxx or letter, with your payment offer. Failure to contact us by 10:00am on 5/12/08 may result in legal proceedings being issued against you without further notice.
Theres some more about baliffs and attachments of earnings and then it states "All payments must be made payable to Moorcroft debt Recovery Ltd and forwarded with this letter to the above address.
We have not received anything from Egg about Moorcroft.
Sorry gotta dash - baby screaming.
Thanks

hya dont really know what cccs is. I have had dealings with Moorcroft. If you make them a payment they have to accept that payment. If they do send bailiffs NEVER let them in. They are like vampires from Bufffy they CANNOT come into your home unless invited but once you have let them in once they can come in again. I am being helped by Christains Against Poverty. I dont have any direct dealings with any of the people I owe money to. If fact none of them can contact me directly now its lovely being able to answer the phone without fear.0

Hi Blankie
If you don't have any money to pay your creditors with (directly or via a DMP) what have CCCS suggested your long term plan is. Are you about to get a new job which will give you money to put into a DMP? Are you paying £1 a month in the hope that a creditor petitions for bankruptcy??
The token payment thing is usually something you do for a while to demonstrate a willingness to pay but I am not sure what your next step is.
As stapely said, check with Egg that the debt is with Moorcroft and also on what terms they have it.£34,547 (Dec 07); Current debt: £zilch (Debt free December 2010)
