Is there any chance of getting it back , sorry dont have a clue about these things and its stressing me out now.

Sorry but it's gone for good.
If it was a hard drive (not a tape) then you "might " be able to recover deleted items.
Being a tape, you have recorded over previous material therefor erasing what was on there.

Only if you recorded a small portion over the top, and hoping the random access didn't then wipe over pre-recorded but flagged for deletion areas.

If say you had a 60 min "memory" camcorder (i.e. with a memory card, HD etc), accidentally erased the memory, then you'd probably be able to salvage it all, if you did nothing else after erasing.

However, if after erasing, then you recorded something else for 60 mins (same quality, filling the memory card) over the top, the chances of retrieving a tiny snippet would be minimal, and the ability to recover the entire original would be 0%.

With tape, although forensic data rig can (in theory) bring back old data (as magnetic storage, leaks over stored zones), for a consumer, it's gone for good.

I would stay with DV tape TBH. Better for editing (HDD recorders store as highly compressed MPEG). Once you finish recording, you should take the tape out, lock, label and capture, then copy to DVD. That way you can reuse the tape.

Tape is on its way out though.

Will be around for a good few years yet but hard disc/flash cards/memory of some sort is what the manufacturers are pushing.

Professional market still uses tape. Any good HDD recorder, like a firestorm, will set you back a large sum. The hobby market will soon have replaced tape, but the professional market will keep using it for a while yet. Film is still used in the professional market, so I don't see tape making an exit just yet.

You will also find that some broadcasters are moving to a totally tapeless environment so no tapes involved at all.
Film is still used by some people but not all professionals - I think that nice Mr Lucas doesn't use it anymore.

But you are right tape will be with us for a long time to come

As I say, at professional quality, HDD recording does become wildly expensive, a 100GB firestore, a portable battery powered HD recorder which records into uncompressed MPEG, will set you back over £1,000. Top quality tapes cost very little, and if recycled effectively, they can be used and used again.

They can indeed but not ad infinitum as there will be drop out etc on them

And I make no apologies for using terms with Latin roots although many councils would prefer I did not

(Sorry off topic but occurred to me as I typed my reply)
