I got two yesterday - they are nicely housed in my tin now :jSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0

I started up doing the £2 savings again at the start of the year. So far I've saved up £18, don't seem to get too many of them in my change really. What I do as well however is save all of the new design coins, from £1 down to 1p. I've held onto every one of those that I've had and I've got about another £15 there too so not too bad all in all. At the end of this month I'm going to bank the lot, transfer it to my ISA and start again.0

People I have a dilemma :
for christmas I found 2 fab car shaped ( 1 x mini & 1 x beetle) money boxes for my nieces & as they were very cheap - only £4 each, I put 3 x £2 coins in each one & was going to start them off with £2 savings as they're both heading towards driving age, so thought it would be fun, useful & appropriate for them.
Due to distance & mocks & general busyness we have not yet seen my nieces although they are aware that 'a gift' is here for them.
I really like the money banks & I really really like £2 coins & I might not see them for ages & cant send them as they're china. Do I do the unthinkably awful thing that haunts me & eats away at me day & night ie : send each niece £10 & reclaim the cars & coins :eek: or just try to ignore their presence & give them to nieces as planned
I know, I know, I am the worst wicked aunt in the world
Hmmm, that's a hard decision Lula hun.
Why don't you change the coins in to notes? Put say £5 in each money bank rather than the £6 originally planned. That way you still get to keep your £2 coins and you are still giving your nieces their presents when you see them.

Thank you Tea,
that's what I will do, I dont think I would ever be able to forgive myself for taking their presents, particularly as I was so delighted when I first found them, but knowing those coins are in there is just eating away at me. I will return later.
That's great advice, so glad you're back :T :A :j

Got two nice shiny coins in my change at the Help the Aged shop. A three in one day; helped recycle someone elses unwanted gift, helped a charity and received two shiny £2 coins in return. :T:T:jYou've got to be in it to win it!! Just believe to receive!! :j
