Halifax collections problem, please help!

I had my overdraft removed by Halifax bank accounts in July, and since then I have been paying a fixed amount every month.

The arrangement states I have to pay them by the 28th of each month, which I had been doing. I called them on the 28th November to pay them by debit card which I assumed was acceptable. At the time the girl said that this would be classed as being late, and the arrangement would be broken. They also stated they would not be able to place me on an arrangement again.

I explained that I had been advised I would have until the 28th to phone in and pay, but they were not interested.

I had a phone call this morning on my home number, which I missed. This seems to be from the Halifax, no doubt to tell me my arrangement has been broken and demanding the full overdraft which I can't pay.

Does anyone have any advice? I am panicking to say the least.

In addition, they keep calling me on my parents home number which I do not want. I have told them to remove this at least 3 times, but they continue to call it instead of the mobile number I provided. How can I get them to stop this?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

I would think that the payment had to be paid and cleared by the 28th of each month.

Call in at your local branch with your account number and sort code and change your personal details to the correct ones ;)

Call and speak to collections and explain that you mis-understood that the payment rules and in future you'll make sure the payment is paid and cleared by the 28th of each month.
If front line staff refuse ask to escalate to a line/team supervisor and then if no joy on to a line/team manager ;)

Hope this helps and please keep us informed :D
