Swiftcover car insurance -any good?

Hi

I have my car insurance with Swiftcover.

I was involved in an accident last night on the M25 (clockwise between Jct24 and Jct25 about 5pm if anyone was there....) and now need to make a claim.
As an internet only company, there wasn't any number for me to call so I made my claim on-line which seemed pretty straight forward.

Just wondered if anyone out there with the same insurer has dealt with them before and can tell me what to expect as I've never dealt with a claim like this before.

The number I was given when I first joined was 0871 984 3333 for claims.

I haven't made a claim on my policy, although when I have contacted them they have alway been very quick to respond.

  • expect and out and out nightmare, that is likely to drag on for months and months with little or not contact, you doing all the running around and not really getting anywhere. at least then you are prepared for the worst, if it doenst happen hen you will be lucky.

have a little search of the forums for Swift?cover and see what you might be in for
  • did a search, and it doesn't look good at all!
Luckily, its minor damage and the car is still fit to drive.

I think my wife is insured with Direct Line and when someone hit her last year, we called up a number and the next day someone turned up at her work to drop off a curtosy car, took her one away to fix, and then 2 days later dropped it off again.
no forms to fill in, didn't need to pay an excess either.
Think I'll be using them next time, but i'm sure I renewed in September so looks like I need to ride it out till then....
  • I've got to say i've been very impressed with the response I've had so far from SwiftCover.....
When i submitted my claim, it did say that I would be contacted within 48 hours by a representative to go thru the claim. I didn't want to wait that long, so called up and was put straight thru to someone who went thru the claim. I've been assigned a garage to do the work, and should be contacted within 48 hours to arrange a pick up.

as the 3rd party didn't stop, it means I have a fault claim on my insurance. I was always under the impression that a fault claim, as the name suggests, is when you were at fault. Apparently not. If they cannot recover the costs from the 3rd party, then its classed as a fault claim

Some dodgy feedback on search - but then a lot of well known insurers also seem to be a problem when you actually have to claim.

are there any well respested insureers left?

you are going to get good and bad storys about every insurer, though you only tend to hear about the bad. Its about looking at that and seeing if you can see justified problems from the insurers point of view and if the same name keeps coming up for little similar things. I'd say my company is fair and treats custpomers well in the event of a claim (having had a claim of my own with us also) some might say Im bias and some would not doubt disagree with me
  • Someone ran into the back of my car last May, 2008. Simple claim you'd think? Still no joy from 'Swift'cover. Avoid like the plague.
  • Forgive me but what on earth else would you expect from a company with such a moronic advertisement.

    Hello ncooper

I too had a little bump on my car in october ( minimal damage to the other car ) and had informed swiftcover. 2 days later had email from them to say that my NCD will be affected and reduced by 2 years even though I had protected my no claims. As it stands, the other party has not made a claim yet.

I will be taking my business elsewhere in the future.
