Best thing to do is have a look at the straightners sticky thread on the "I wanna buy it or do it" forum.

I don't recommend GHDs! Yes they are good and get your hair nice and straight but compared to other brands they are not worth the price - they are vastly more expensive than other brands. When my GHDs broke I bought a pair of Remmington ceramic straightners and I couldn't tell the difference. I repaired my GHDs myself as the company were unwilling to do so and I won't buy another pair.

If your wife as very curly, frizzy hair she might appreciate GHDs but if her hair is just wavy another brand will work just as well.
  • babyliss pro230 are as good as ghds and half the price.

  • The price of GHD's are a joke, the poster is probably terrified wishing his wife had asked for a diamond ring instead!

Grab your argos catalogue, pick your budget and get the hottest, most adjustable, ceramic/ tormeline coated ones you can afford.
It only takes a second to say 'Thanks, you just saved me a few quid!'

My DD is a hairdresser she has GHD too and swears by them. They are very expensive though as others have said. I have a cheapy pair, can't remember the name but I know there is a vast difference between when DD uses the GHD ones on my hair and when the other ones are used.

My hairdressers use Corioliss and I bought a pair coz they're so good! Mine are purple and were about £80 - they're from the makers of GHD.
