On the news last night. A couple who had their house repossessed are now squatting in it. And there's nothing the bank can do to get them out. Reporter said more people intend to follow their example.

Isn't that why banks get court orders so people have to leave and can't squat?or did bank not follow rules to the letter giving a loophole?0

Same as anyone else squatting in it though - and this family must be sick. If only they'd hung on a bit longer King Gordon would have solved all their problems anyway with this VAT reduction.0

Surely the family are in breach of the court order that the lender obtained in order to be able to re-possess the property?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

I'm guessing that they left & returned later, the court order wouldn't have been breached in that case, as they left, the lender had taken possession.
How did they gain entry back into the property? If it wasn't secure, they can claim squatters rights, I don't think they can if they had to break in to gain access.0 -
I don't see why they can't just be evicted as other squatters can. By a court order....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

someone claimed squatters right for 12 years... from last recessin... then managed to claim rights and get his house for free lol.0

er, i think you have to occupy a property for a certain period of time as a squatter, & for the owner to take no action, to have squatters rights.
As the property had been re-possessed, they are now trespassing. Also, nothing to stop the bank having all the locks changed, & all the services cut off.0
