Is the I car an electric car or a hybrid?

I have seen both so can anyone answer me.

In Japan it is a hybrid, I think, can we get this hybrid here in the UK?

    The i isn't electric but they are planning an electric version in the future. The one on sale now is petrol. It's supposed to be OK bit overpriced.
