Esso "On The Run" Offers...

Popped into the Esso - On The Run last night for a pint of milk on the way home and noticed that they had a lot of "BOGOF" or "BOGOHP" offers on various things, Coca Cola, Pringles etc....

I get a few bits and pieces and went to the till to pay. Having already totted up the total in my head, I was a bit surprised when the guy at the counter tells me that the total is nearly £5 more... It turned out that none of the offers had been picked up at the till when scanning.

Fair enough I think, so I ask the chap to apply the offer prices and he tells me, in barely understandable English, that there is nothing he can do as the till has not been updated and that it is not his problem....

I asked him if he would be taking down all the special offer flashes until they could actually honour them and he just looked at me as if I was completely mad.

Suffice to say, I left the shopping and went elsewhere, including the milk....

What a great attitude to customer service though. Really gets on my nerves....

I think the argument about prices in service stations has been done to death on here,as has the one about non English Speakers. Why not complain to his Boss if you wanted to ?

The Esso tills don't reduce until he hits the total button. The subtotal still shows the prediscounted prices...

Apparently he was the manager and he had already totalled up all of the items, as indicated on the till print out.

I coudn't be bothered to hang around any longer getting the silly silent treatment anyway.
