Student HSBC bank account

In my third year of the account now
Each year i've gone in and politely asked for an extension of my overdraft and the answers is always "computer says no" as you may have seen on little britain (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=WOdjCb4LwQY).
So im stuck with £750 all the time.
Got a charge the other week (£25.00) basically my rent went out at midnight and this made me go over my overdraft...A FEW HOURS later I had the money coming in (pay) that made me back to not being overdrawn...still they send a letter saying they will charge at some point in the near future.
Tried to go in the other week and explain that I am currently in some slight financial difficulty till my next student loan comes in...
- Oh why don't you try and borrow some money of your parents etc..
Yeah cheers mate great answer..just the one I was looking for
- Well sorry we can't extend your overdraft cause of basically the credit crunch
Oh thanks yeah cheers mate
THEN he tries to reduce my monthly outgoings... any outgoings are 12 month contacts and im mid-way through most of them so thats a useless thing to do.
AND FINALLY to top it all off
He tries to SELL me a product!! YES sell me a bleedin contents cover for when I next have money.
I just walked out..had enough and getting angry!
Getting angry writing this.
Dreadful bank (like most of 'em)

Hello,
I feel your pain. I have a student account with HSBC and am in the same boat as you. I have an overdraft of £1000, I am not entitled to £1,500 as am in my third year, and that would come in really handy, but they always say no....can't you borrow some money from somewhere and bla bla. I mean if I could borrow elsewhere then I would, because at least I can pay back to the parents as and when I like.
I often go over my overdraft limit, sometimes quite significantly, which is why they wont extend my overdraft, but I must admit that I have neevr been paid. I was told the one time that a charrge did come up on my account that they could take it off because I have a student account, so it's worth giving them a call to moan about it.
I was once left stranded in a petrol station because my card wouldn't work, I'd filled up, spend about an hur on the phone to the bank, and always got told teh same thing...you need to go into your branch. I mean really, it was 8am, an hour until the nearest branch opened, I was 2 hours away from somewhere I needed to be by 9.30 and ended up crying in the middle of a petrol station...
In the end I filled in one of those forms that give you 7-days to pay.....
As banks say often 'while we are in the business of lending money, we don't want you to be struggling with debt'.
NEWSFLASH:- We are students, and debt comes in teh package!! I'll just starve shall I?!0 -
Bide your time, you'll get your own back on them when you graduate. Trust me.
They will ring you up all nice as pie trying to sell you a loan, so do as I did and ask them why you should give them your business now seeing as when you needed them they didnt want to know.I enjoyed that.
