A friend of mine has bought a 28" lcd screen and is using it as a computer screen and a tv.
I think it works fine as a computer screen, if a little large!
But the quality of the picture on the TV is (IMO) awful. He seems to think it's fine, but the black colour is red and "pixely".
Is this normal? Not really sure of the difference between plasma and lcd, but would plasma be better as a tv?

Don't know too much on LCD but the picture quality is better the further away you are from the screen so if you are standing straight up by the screen the picture looks aweful but this is LCD technology and the lower the refesh speed of the TV the better as it is suppose to cause little "ghosting" when an image pans accross the screen you sometimes see the image dragging. I have a Dell 26" LCD which I am happy with as I only paid £363 for the TV and it does the job and I play my xbox 360 though the high definition connectors on the tv but it won't be as good as a CRT TV0

This can be quite normal for TV on a larger LCD screen, you get it to some extent on a plasma but not as close (or didn't on older models not sure about the new ones). the main problem is that the resolution of the TV signal is quite poor in comparison with todays LCD monitors so you see some of the problems. On low resolution screens it is much less noticable, this is the reason that HDTV is comming out where the picture resolution will be much higher more like a LCD resolution. You should find that if he connects a DVD in to it, it will look considerably better as DVD use a higher picture resolution with much less loss of quality than over the air waves, also digital TV (Freeview, sky or cable) should look a bit better also.0
