Even when it is locked it has quite a large gap.
I have tried looking at some of the what seem to be stick on rolls of draught excluder but I do not know what size, width I need.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have a gap at the top I would suggest fitting a piece of wood to the bottom of the frame so there isn't a gap. Look at the way a normal door frame is constructed and you should get an idea what you need.0
