Barclays Home Insurance Challenge

Just had this mailed to me, also on their web site: https://www.barclaysgeneralinsurance.co.uk/Barclays/site/household/home?campaignCode=HGOOG001
They are promising to beat your existing policy or they will match it and give you £50 cash.
I've not checked the small print as I'm not ready to renew yet but thought it may be useful to someone.

Although, it's worth mentioning that Barclays won't insure houses which have cellars or basements and/or have students living in them (rules out most of the houses round here!) They are v. cheap though, the cheapest quote I found, but unfortunately we have a cellar

Have you tried Lloyds TSB? Do it through topcashback and you could get £90ish cashback. That way... my contents insurance works out to be about £15 per year... which is about the same as the monthly premium on my existing policy. A saving of over £100.
I love this site... so addictive!Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.0 -
Your joking, Lloyds were very expensive for House and Contents insurance and I never got offered cashback!!0

I've just got a quote from lloyds for buildings insurance and its £50 cheaper than my renewal quote and if i go through greasypalm i get £50 cash back too!
Havent tried barclays for my buildings yet! will have to try it.0 -
I applied for a quote through Barclays, and it came up as almost £60.00 per year cheaper that my current buildings/contents through the Pru. Also tried Halifax, which came out even more expensive than the Pru. Will not be using them!! I'll try Lloyds TSB.0

Just before Christmas I was quoted £144.78 for parents Building & Contents insurance.
End of terrace 3 bedroom house with garage
Buildings up to £200k inc.Accidental Damage
Contents up to £35k no a/d
Legal Cover also included.
No Claims.Usual extras included.
I also used her account at https://www.bighair.co.uk register and login required for first timers then just login). You will find the link there for Motorquote Direct. This gives her another £15 cashback.Total price effectively £129.78
She lives in SM4 (Surrey).Maybe you will also get a nice quote.
Some quotes on https://www.egg.com can work out cheap. Also over the last two years I have found them to offer a full years travel insurance for the whole family included. This tended to run at certain times of the year.0
