Agreed , but its still the firm thats deciding

The firm has to decide its primary model though. How long would a fee only firm last if it's target market was lower/middle end? This is why i like the choice option. However, I concede that you do need the individual/firm to be professional enough to use the right option. This thread shows that there is still some that dont. That said, with the FOS reporting that complaints against IFAs have fallen again for at least the 5th year in a row and now represent just 2% of their complaints, it does appear that things are moving in the right direction. The FOS were gushing praise at IFAs when it was at 11%. Now its at 2% they must wonder if the RDR is focusing on the right people.

If the FSA can just get back on board with an advice/sales split, I think we will be mostly where we need to be.
BTW - do you use Truth?

No. I keep thinking about it though. I did look at it in an early form and it had promise but was still a bit early. I have heard its come on a long way since then. I currently use the adviser office stochastic planning module. However, that is getting long in the tooth and I wouldnt recommend it for anyone new and the promises about the replacement have been coming for years. You know what its like with software, its monthly cost and everyone wants you to have their software. If you ever did need justification for trail, the software costs could be one them!
