So I am assuming an indoor event? I organised a fun day a few years ago for local foster care association but we were dependant on the weather. Turned out not so bad and we had a great day with many sideshows etc etc. We also invited other local charities to have a stand which boosted the attractions.
We also ran several bingo nights but always also had a tombola on the night. Its amazing how many people will still buy tombola tickets when there is only crap left on the table LOL
You could also try a quiz night or selling quiz sheets, a nearly new sale/car boot, disco for families in a local hall, maybe with a buffet but bring own booze if they want it (or even bring a donation to a buffet) and have a few sideshows running like a tombola etc. Horse racing night. Depends really what kind of area you live in.

Red Nose Day will have lots of ideas on the official website, plus publicity materials etc.

Always a good idea to contact the charity you want to benefit at an early stage and see how they can help. Especially as their Trustees need to be aware what is being done in their name!
