I just feel like venting.
I thought I finally got away from Tiscali and awful customer service when they:
1. Wrote to me to state my account balance had been cleared in July
2. They sent me a cheque for 17.99 about 2 weeks later
On 23rd November they decided to help themselves to £1.33 from my bank account. So I sent an email to my bank via online banking pointing out that I had no contract with Tiscali since May 2008 and could they refund me.
Today I received a letter from Tiscali stating that I still owed them £1.33 and I should ring them on their 0871 number to discuss it.
Muppets!!! :mad::mad:
I have now sent them an email and a letter by first class post (using a free stamp) asking them to confirm the letter they sent me in July otherwise I will take them to arbitration because of their poor customer service.
I should point out I when I cancelled my account in May and the direct debit:
1. They kept billing me and I complaint by email.
2. I actually sent May's payment to them of £14.99 to them by cheque using recorded delivery which they didn't cash.

It will probaly cost you more than £1.33 to call them up and discuss it
That's the point I was hinting at when I stated I'm using a free stamp.
The refund of £17.99 was for the fact I complained in my letter that I had been kept on hold on their "expensive" 0870 number for 40 minutes twice.
Also Tiscali's customer service staff don't know their a** from their elbows so once you get through they transfer you around departments giving you incorrect information.
I only managed to cancel because I got through on an old Homechoice number after another 15 minute wait and was transferred to the right department. I was then transferred through 3 more staff members each telling me different and incorrect information.
The Homechoice staff member stated before they transferred me that Tiscali didn't use the equipment anymore so I could chuck it away. The final Tiscali operator after cancelling my account told me I had to return it and started making an appointment after telling me that I had to wait in all day for the man to collect it.
By then I had lost it and told the operator that:
1. They where useless at their job
2. I was not waiting in as I was told they don't use Homechoice equipment as it was now obsolete
3. Where they could go and put the phone down on them.
They are still making me mad.........:mad::mad:I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Update on the Tiscali issue got a reply to my email and letter stating I still owe them money.
I dug out old correspondence to them and in it I stated due to their breach of the law if they did anything I would be taking legal action against them. So now I have drafted a Letter Before Action and will be sending it to them.
If they attempt to do anything I will submit court papers.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Good for you. Ask for a deadlock letter and go to arbitration - no need to go court route.
are they a member of CISAS? Just used them for a complaint against AOL. Very impressed.0 -

They are.
However I've heard mixed reports about CISAS.
I've just had a look at the Data Protection Act 1998 and Principle 4 states:
" Personal data shall be accurate and, where necessary, kept up to date."
So I think I will be writing a letter to their Data Controller as obviously their records on me are not accurate and up to date.
I've learnt with lots of large companies, Data Controllers don't want to be dragged into complaints so are helpful in getting issues solved.
The address for anyone else who may need it is:

I was really impressed with CISAS. Totally free and adjudication made (with £100 heading my way) within 2 months.0

I think Tiscali have forgotten the fact that they are merely a meagre telephone company and have got a bit too big for their boots.
When my Mum died, I telephoned to cancel her Tiscali service and they refused to do so without sight of her Death Certificate. The only other people who required sight of this were financial institutions. Even TV Licensing didn't want to see it. :rolleyes:I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -

Sorry this is a bit rude but it's kind of obvious.... The only way you can escape Tiscali either as an existing customer or an ex-customer is by saying you are dead.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Update- Tiscali replied to my Letter Before Action and agreed again to clear the balance.
Let's see if I hear from them in a few months time trying it on again..................I'm not cynical I'm realistic

When I moved from NTL/VirginMedia to TalkTalk I had to tell them I was moving house as it was the only option available.
Also they kept sending me a bill for £4.57. I ignored these until they detailed what the charge was for-it was for the return of their modem. E-mailed them to say I would return it if the sent me either the postage or a prepaid envelope.

I moved to O2 broadband from Tiscali early this month. Just had my final invoice in the post today from Tiscali advising that I'm 94p in credit and asking me to phone an 0871 number to arrange a refund. Why couldn't they just send a cheque or something!
