First is it in a cold garage or similar? If so then the fridge takes little running of the motor to reach its temperature whilst the freezer needs more. As the sensor is in the fridge the freezer looses our. Move it to a warmer location.
Second does it have two motors? This is only found on expensive models and is suitable for garages. If this type perhaps one motor has failed. In this case they are not worth repairing.0 -
Thanks for your replys, the fridge freezer is in the conservatory and it is freezing in there so i wonder if that has caused the problem, it has happend three times now where i have found all the contents thawed out but after they have frozen back up but this time its not happening. I put a dish of wter in and its not iced up.
Thanks Again0 -
I've had exactly the same problem with the freezer on a Whirlpool fridge/freezer. It's only 7 months old and engineer has been out twice. First time he changed the board and then the second guy has said that the problem is the ambient temperature! The kitchen was 18 degrees.
I was wondering if there's anything I can do? Apart from move it to a warmer room?

Hi Sindy
I have been having the same trouble with Whirlpool for around 4 years. Pardon my French, but they are f%$^ing useless and I will NEVER buy Whirlpool again. We have an American style fridge freezer (cost a whopping £1100 when we bought it) and it is forever packing up. We have had the boards changed something like five times. I have written a dozen (no exaggeration) letters to customer service and they ignore most of them. They just don't seem to care. They really are the pits.

Hi, I agree with you regarding Whirlpool Customer service. I have phoned numerous times and they have promised to call back and eventually he told me that they couldn't dial out to mobile numbers beginning 077.. !! I couldn't believe it and asked what type of company were they if they can't call customers back!
I'm now waiting for another engineer visit next week which I've had to wait 3 weeks for as they only do visits to my area on Tues/Thurs! I can't keep taking time off work.
I think they will try to fob me off with saying it's this ambient temperature problem and my fault as the kitchen is too cold. I can't keep any food in there as it's defrosting and then freezing again.
Seems bizarre to me. :mad:0 -
I hope you can get it sorted, especially with Christmas only round the corner. I wouldn't hold your breath, though. What we have invariably found is that, when they eventually do come out, they THEN decide that you need a particular part that they don't keep on the van.
We've had this happen even when we've told them "it's the same part that's gone again". On one occasion, they had to order from Italy so you can imagine the delay that ensued then. I will NEVER buy Whirlpool again and would hope that others with similar experiences will vote with their feet in the same way.
Good luck.0
