is landlord or letting agency to blame?

  • feel a bit silly nowl rang insurance but stupidly told them that the fire service said that there waslikely to be no damage to my property in term sof damage to the actual wall; this is true as it is what the fireman said but there is no concrete evidence i guess, only now the insurance are like 'well if the fire service said..'

in terms of any smoke damage they said the cost of cleaning would be more than my excess which is 250 quid - i said well at the very least yu can sent someone to have alook which should cost nothing! They have agreed to do this but aren't able to do til Dec 22nd. The landlord has spoken to me and apologised profusely and said he would do what he could doto sort the situaion - think he is getting rid of the aga.
  • There's usually "an outlet" for excess heat though. Mine is a radiator in the bathroom which is permanently warm from the AGA. If I turn that radiator off, the AGA overheats .... I did it once and the whole CH system started to bang and rattle with water that was too hot.

I think my mother's partially heats the water, and excess heat goes there. But I could be wrong.
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.
  • Latest update - l will have to fork out at least 250 quid for antyhing to be professionally done as they said it will go over my excess. The smoke is dissipating i think and i would rather just get a humidifyer or something than make a claim. Landlord seems willing to be involved - he says he knows someone who could do any work or I guess I could ask for some cash to cover costs (ie washing curtains, repainting room- )

Is that a good idea? How much should I ask for?
