I'll see what I can find out but perhaps there are some rules that means is applies to some and not others e.g. perhaps they have to help the negative equity people.

NR are not offering any new deals to existing customers. No exceptions.

She may have extended her term/changed to interest only but she won't be offered a new mortgage... especially not when she has negative equity!!

and alan_blue i presume you are aware if you remortgage leaving your unsecured with NR your interest rate increase by either 5% or 8%

Also, estate agents "valuations" are not used by NR as they are over inflated and priced for an offer
  • yeah found that out today nonshy, goes up 8% above SVR. If I take the loan elsewhere though the mort stays on the SVR though, double standards gits lol

So now I am looking for a new loan then can port the mort elsewhere

Thanks for that, our deal is ending in 2 months, just going to let it go to SVR until the rates and fixed deals improve :)

it is because of increased risk on the unsecured loan... first charge will go to new mortgage lender and second charge to northern rock on unsecured
  • so need to refinance this loan, does anyone have any ideas please?

you can look to find another lender who will offer a rate better than 13.84%... if you have negative equity in your property you may be hard pushed to find anyone to offer you a loan
