yep like that but chanelled out so it will sit either side of the fence to save putting batten along it,,,thought by now someone would do it channeled out ready to go..0 -
I've bought from these guys before, and they have "workshop" prices, so you could just find a local timber merchant to knock a few up for you, can't imagine it would cost a lot more to put a channel in.0

Just guessing
but as feather edge is not a standard thickness, also erected piece by piece, the top section will never be standard. Therefore difficult to cut a channel suitable for all.
Can I ask why ? top section. not normally seen on a feather board fence.
I think even a home-made top section would not be very easy. You would need to fasten a batten either side at the top to carry the top section. But you would be fixing to a very thin section of wood. Not saying it would not be possible, but is it worth the hassle.0 -

thats the stuff,,i got the board from build base, they dont have trench capping or do the local fenceing place, last time i made the trench capping from 2x2 i think but was lot of hasle cutting the angles & then routing out the trench,,,i just think it looks better job than the standard stuff plus probly saves time & money by useing the trench capping...0 -
I would just try your local timber merchants/fencing places/ Travis Perkins. The above website is my local fencing place so I was lucky to get it from them, previously I managed from a timber place , had to ring round a couple at first as you've found, doesn't seem to be as common.0
