TV Help - Colours gone - Repair or Replace?

Options
I have a cheapo Bush Widescreen telly and the colours have gone (as we moved it on its stand after packing up the Xmas tree). The edges of the screen are pinky, none of the colours look right and when you get the blue bar up on Sky it is pinky red at the edges and purple in the middle. Is this going to be a reasonable repair job or would I be better off replacing it? I've checked the reciept and its just 3 years old.

My Dad always said Bush were trouble, this is my second one in 8 years!

Sadly I think repairing telly's is a thing of a past in thsi "throw away" world. It sounds like the tube is on it's way out and that's not worth replacing. You could try ringing a service agent and explaining to them what the problem is over the phone. I'm sure if they know what they're doing, they'll have an idea of what the problem is and whether it's worth repairing.

My ex husband used to tell me that Bush were rubbish, until I pointed out that my grandparents had had a Bush TV for 22 years!

I think it's the luck of the draw.

Before doing anything drastic, check all the scart leads are seated properly. They are probably one of the worse designs ever for a plug and socket (Flimsy plug on the end of a heavy thick lead), and moving it may have dislodged one slightly. You didn't say if it was the same using a normal aerial, if it is then forget what I've said but if it's ok on the aerial the the scart lead is a good bet.

Thanks, I checked these after you posted but sadly not the problem. Its rubbish with a regular arial anyway - so I checked out the DVD which is on another lead and same problem. Oh well maybe I can buy a nice flat screen now.

When you said moving it - have you had it in a different place from normal, near something magnetic, maybe loudspeakers or similar? If so it may realign itself.
