    Hi there,

I'm new to this too :). Just thought I would let you know I have just spoken to the CCCS, I filled in a Debt Remidy online and then spoke to a lovely lady.
She was so lovely and helpful and didn't mind me sobbing down the phone.

I'm not sorted yet by any means, but just talking to CCCS has been like a big weight lifted, I know that there is now things we can do to sort this debt out.

Really reccomend you speaking to them, its really helped me.

    Good Luck :)

I just feel so stupid and worthless that i have allowed myself to get into this mess, and just dont know where to begin with sorting it all out. I feel i have let myself down, but more importantly my 2 dear children, who i dont want to suffer from my stupidity.

Sweetie - stop feeling this way right now! You are not stupid nor worthless. I am glad that you have read others' posts because you will see that many people have been in the same situation. Please make the call to payplan. I don't know of any poster that has regretted or been made to feel bad or any of the other things that I am sure you are worrying about.

As 10past6 says - you will sleep a lot easier when you have done this.

    Take care

    Hi

Well done in taking the first step and posting you SOA,
Dont worry about feeling bad about your debts everyone makes mistakes.
You now need to take control of the debt and not have them control you.
The best way i can see for you to do that is by giving payplan a ring and setting up a DMP with them. by doing this you will start to pay off your debt and have money left over to pay all your other bills and to live your life agin.

Im on a DMP i set it up 5 years ago and it was the best thing that i ever did!!!! Its took a long time to pay my debts off but now iv only got 9 months left it feels worth it!!!!!

Take control and make the jump! it really will be worth it in the end. And the peopel that you speak to are just great and really wont the best out come for you.

Please keep us updated on how you are doing and what you decide to do.

All the best and the very best of luck
:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j
  • Talk to CCCS - I'm far from a debt expert but notice that your mortgage is repayment.

As a short term option you could put some of your mortgage on interest only to balance your monthly books and perhaps start chipping away at your unsecured loans. Don't look on this as a panacea because at some point you will need to pay your mortgage capital back - but going interest only for a short term would help you get your head above water and get your other bills back on the straight and narrow. Put this to CCCS and see what they say.

I'd guess you are quite young so you have time on your side. Good luck & well done for posting.
  • Thank you all for your support and comments, and advice.

I made the call to cccs, and gave her all my information. I just need to get exact figures on my credit card accounts, and then a councillor will contact me.

Bit strange feeling really, as she advised me to just give £1.00 token payments to the likes of credit card bills, will seem mad just paying a £1.00.

Just hope this will be the end to my problems, and will see the light at the end of the tunnel, of eventually being debt free one day.

Just also hoping this doesn't effect me badly when we do come to remortgage at the end of our fixed rate.

When I first contacted Payplan through cccs, I was so desperate even the bank manager took pity on me when I asked if a £15.00 cheque could be cashed then and there and he loaned me a £5ver! (I paid him back 3 weeks later with money I earned off some cashback! :T )

I didn't have the money to pay my creditors even the minimum payment each month so payplan suggested I do a self dmp. It's slowly taking shape and gosh it's really hard work looking at what I'd got myself into with debt but it's now slowly chipping away nicely! and for that I'm so so very proud of myself:D

YOU CAN DO THIS! There are so many on this forum who can walk with you through this and are living proof that debt need not be the be all and end all of your life!

    Good luck

    Hi

The token £1 is to make sure that you pay your priority debts and any backog on them, but to show willing with the unsecured non-priority creditors. IF you are ever accused of non-payment, you can show that you were taking your responsiblities seriously, not running away from your debts.

That will allow you to sort out the priority debts that are in arrears.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

    Hi,

Just to let you know, that if you are "stupid and worthless ".....then most of us on this site suffer from the same complaint. We are in our middle years, reasonably intelligent, never been out of work or on long term sick.........so.......how did we get in this mess?????? The answer in our case is very easy.......we lived beyond our means and ignored the fact for years......and then you have a LBM.....and all of a sudden you realize that you have to do something to rectify the situation before its too late. WELL DONE.... you have come to that point a lot earlier in your lives than we did. Don't worry, before long things will be sorted, and you will be like the rest of us on here, working towards a debt free date. Good luck, and cheer up.....you are not alone.

Thanks for that, I guess the past few months, debt has ruled my life, and i need to start changing this, and the way to go is a payplan.

The most awful part is when i drop my son off at nursery, and kiss him goodbye, and all the time i am thinking, i owe the manager over £2000. Although she is kind and understanding, she must be worried, but I have assured her by the time he comes leave in July next year, the debt will be paid in full. She is ok about this, and says she is happy for me to do this.

    P.S

I will be on this site for many years to come, as I am sure many others will be, so shout if you need any help, or just a good moan. We're very good listeners.
