DH reduced his hours at work.

Options
We have taken on board lots of the advice on this forum, particularly within the old style board, and completely changed our outlook on making and spending money.

Money saving for us has been about a particular purpose. That purpose is spending more time together as a family. We managed to make sure that me spending time at home looking after our son was cost effective as well as being the best thing for our family. So much so that we worked out that we would probably lose money if I went back to work part time due to the amount of money saving things I'd no longer have time for.

And now we've managed to stretch it even further. Not only am I at home with my son, but for an extra day a week, so is my husband. He reduced his hours at work and the paperwork finally came through. Today is his first 'extra' day off.

There is no way we would have considered this even 6 months ago. I am so grateful to everyone who keeps this site running, and to everyone who contributes their advice. You really have given us the gift of time. And I can't think of anything more precious.
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.

It won't be long before you're posting that you're sick of him being under your feet :rotfl:

lol.... my hubby works shifts so he's often off midweek..... it drives me MAD  :D

I have a nice little routine already then he comes down and gets under my feet, makes plans for us without telling me and generally c0cks my day up :rotfl:

I'd love him to work normal hours and only be home at weekends :rotfl:

    Hi Gingham Ribbon

I'd love to work one day less per week...apart from anything else I find it difficult to keep up with working full-time, my 3 yo, housework, washing etc etc etc. I'm working towards my debt free date (thanks to this site....ALL my debt it at either 0% or 3.9%) and once I get there I plan to cut my hours for a better quality of life (but last night got a dental quote for £3700 possibly £4700... )

Well done you! Hopefully, sometime in 2007 (maybe early 2008) I'll be posting something similar.

    Enjoy!
