I can't find it, I know I put in some very odd search words to get to the official complaints page. The email they used to respond to me though was
webform@paypal.co.uk
The search I did was similar to the email header on my emails which was "FileaComplaintintheEuropeanUnion"I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. OP - try the DFW board. There are certain documents Paypal need to produce to prove the debt, (valid signed credit agreement springs to mind, though not sure if this applies to Paypal) which the DCA will have to get before they can pursue the debt with you.
Might only be delaying tactics on your part, but worth a try.0 -
Arghh..the search facility on paypal has died completely now..nothing gets any results returned. I'll try again tomorrow.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I'm never going to find the link again..but I'll try. It is hidden away in their silly 'search ' facility and seems to have quite an immediate response if you manage to find it..I'll be back!
Ive seen that today when I went to open a claim against a company that I never received item from. I went to 'resolution centre' and it was there somewhere when I had to click the 'item not received' or 'fraudulant use complaint' Im pretty sure it was underneath those options somewhere.May £10 a day challenge£19.61/£310Ebay challenge...£12.61/£2000 -
One thing that is springing to mind is the time scale, the OP has said 5-6 years ago, if we knew just how long, then surely if it's close to 6 years, then it is coming on being statute barred?0

A very good point, the OP should check the dates and if it is coming up to 6 years then he certainly get advice before doing anything0 -
Last week, I got a text, 2 missed calls and a letter from a company called Intrum Justita, asking me to pay back the £250. They appear to be a Credit Management company in Harlow and Liverpool.
The wording is...
"We have commenced formal debt recovery action against you to recover the outstanding balance on behalf of Paypal... please pay up using the Giro form below".
Now.. I could just ignore it again, but in these credit-sensitive times, my concern is for my currently clean credit record... My questions are..
-- Has anyone else been in the same situation?
-- Has anyoen come across these people before?
I had these clowns after me last year, I had 2 ebay accounts nuked, one was in credit the other in debit.
Ebay would not pay me the money back so I didn't settle the other account.
They sent the above people after me, they just harass you a bit, they said that ebay does not add anything to your credit rating (possibly to avoid bad publicity?).
They put on a big fee to collect the £5 I owed, I refused to pay either, and it appears they cannot enforce anything as they are not from the courts.
They do ring you many times though, but won't give a number to call back on or any names which seemed a bit suss.
They're just trying to scare you into paying.
I'd ignore them."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

I have now shut down my Pay Pal account for the very reason I am seeing on this forum, Pay Pal only looks after themselves and no one else. My account was scammed and someone bought a camcorder with my money. I found out who they were, where they lived etc etc and even their mobile number! some great detective work I did I can tell you. I rang the Police and told them too, they told me to go to my bank and advise them and they will deal with it as they have no time for me!! so it appears that anyone, yes anyone can do what they want with Pay Pal and Pay Pal doesn't care less about us. I told Pay Pal straight away of this transaction that was unauthorised and they never bothered to do anything for me and didn't even say sorry soooo I have now closed my Pay Pal account and not only that do not buy or sell off ebay anymore as it appears to me a majority of people cannot be trusted and that is such a shame but it has got worse and worse. To add to my misery I had a buyer recently that claimed they never received an item and started a dispute (before I shut Pay Pal down) and guess what? they got their money back without my proving that the item WAS delivered so it seems that Pay Pal do as they want and don't care for us anymore.:mad:0

hey all
thanks for all your advice and discussion around the issue
I feel annoyed with myself for not having more of an audit trail. I will go back through my records tonight and look for any correspondance with paypal
I spoke to Consumer Direct this afternoon - their advice was:
-- DONT call Instrum back
-- If you want to just pay up, (1) Pay under protest, (2) send a letter to Instrum and Paypal saying you are paying under protest and will pursue the matter with the police, (3) Ask Paypal for my case info, which I should be entitled to under the data protection act, (4) send everything by recorded mail
-- If I want to fight, they suggested: (1) Speak to the police fraud dept... (2) Contact community legal advice.... (3) Contact watchdog
Again, my lack of postal details and email trail makes me think I stand no chance against these fools. I will, at the very least, demand my case details from Paypal (or Instrum) before I pay anything
What do you guys reckon? I just dont want the grief or a bad credit rating!

Just a followup
I received another letter from Intrum Justitia demanding the money - the text is below
We refer to our previous letter regarding your debt of £264.55 and to date we have not received payment of this long overdue account.
Failure to settle your account may result in legal action being taken against you and any legal fees and costs being added to your debt.
What to do next:
You must send paymenjt of £264.55 immediately.
Full details of how to make your payment are outlined overleaf.
We look forward to the speedy conclusion of this matter.
Yours sincerely
Intrum Justitia Ltd
Reading the advice above, and speaking to my nearest and dearest, even though I know there's amount outstanding... Intrum / Paypal should be explaining what the amount relates to - not just making a vague and frightening claim against me. I've opted to send a recorded delivery letter to both Intrum and Paypal demanding any information they've got about me on file and the basis for their claim. Only then will I entertain it.
Doe anyone consider this approach a risk? I'm just concerned that they will suddenly say "right, let's take him to court"
cheers0
