payment protection

Hi , my partner has recently been off sick for a week and having changed jobs last year we have only ( stupidly I know) realised that he only gets ssp which is substantially lower than his monthly wage.
As a consequence we,d like to know whether there are any payment protection policies out there which cover and pay out in the event of sickness lasting less than the standard 30 days which most appear to pay out on.

We currently have a policy with payprotect but this is for the 30 day excess period.

At the moment similarly to the majority of the country/world (!) we don,t have savings and with young children are managing on a shoe string and the possibility of the odd occasion of sickness would through us into arrears quite dramatically!-please advise
thanks

clare

Try a broker. There are policy's available with shorter waiting periods (7/14 days). Though expect the premiums will be more expensive than for the standard "nothing for the first month" before they pay policys.

You might be better off saving.
A policy that pays out for what you want will probably be quite expensive.
    Self-insurance can sometimes be better.
Could you save a bit instead of paying premiums?
