Does it not just work when you plug it in?
With my netgear, I just plugged my xbox into the router and it worked.0 -
Do you have a wireless bridge for the xbox or are you wanting to plug directly into the O2 router0

Can I ask a question please?
I'm toying with allowing my 11 year old to do the Xbox 360 live thing but I'm not sure if it's "suitable" for him.
This is probably not the best place but Traveller1981 can you tell me if it's a safe place to be for a child?
I also have Netgear but how do I plug it in?Grocery Challenge M: £450/£425.08 A: £400/£.May -£400/£361 June £380/£230 (pages 18 & 27 explain)0 -

It will be absolutely fine - both my children use it with no problems - just use the family settings. More info here:

I think you will find that the majority of people that use it are children. I wouldn't worry at all. Also, follow the link posted above about the additional settings you can turn on.
Xbox live is basically just a whole group of people playing games against each other. They can all chat amongst themselves, but there is no chat forum as such. It is perfectly safe.0 -
Thanks you both for all your help. This Techie board will save my boy's Christmas. Everything he wants this year frightens the bejeezus out of me.Grocery Challenge M: £450/£425.08 A: £400/£.May -£400/£361 June £380/£230 (pages 18 & 27 explain)0

it just connects normally via an ethernet cable,
but if you mean by wireless, then you will just neef the WEP key which is underneath the O2 router box
and put this into the xbox when you find your wireless network.
if you have any more problems message me0 -

Id like to add that there are people out there who will try and hack the xbox live account by gaining information eg email address and password used for the account, if you would be using your hotmail email for it then thats ok but if your son has his own hotmail address then he should be aware to not reveal any information to anyone also if he were to be sent a link to a site offering free ms points then its most likely a phising site so dont click on the link.0
