Advice please - JSA and depression

Hi everyone,
Hope someone can help. I was made redundant in August from a very senior, well paid job. No redundancy as was there less than 2 years. We're in receipt of standard JSA ( 90.90 per week ), plus child benefit and 500/month tax credit.
I have recently been diagnosed with severe depression and am currently on various medications for this and to help me sleep. My Doc said I should mention this to JCP as it might access more benefits for me, but I thought I'd ask here first what everyone thinks as I'm not always certain the advice given by JCP is accurate. ny help / advice would be very much appreciated.

www.entitledto.co.uk might be worth a try, or your local CAB may be able to help.
Is there any way your partner could work just now, and you could be at home with the little ones, even part time ? If she worked 16 hours or more you might then be entitled to working tax credit (although of course the JSA would stop and child tax credit might change, you might still get some housing and council tax benefit too).
Someone with more experience will be along soon.Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

Hi intruder_glasgow,
Do you feel that you are fit to work at the moment? If not, you will be able to claim for ESA rather than JSA.
If you are fit to work or not, then depending on how long you have been depressed for, you may be eligible for DLA.
If you can give us a bit more information we'll be able to give you some more detail xGone ... or have I?0 -

Have you tried pulling yourself together, getting off your AR** and finding a job? You might find that does the trick.
oh your so caring0 -

TROLL ALERT - WHAT AN !!!!!0 -

You clearly are a troll, it is a shame you have such little insight.0 -

Thank you.
You can ask all you like but you wont get, you have been much more rude on the other thread.0 -

Did you know it is a breach of forum rules to take one dispute and follow around the rooms with a view to antagonising the poster. One look at your posts and it can be seen that you ahve done that with me. You plainly are just looking for a fight.
Is that supposed to scare me? Go away and grow up.0 -
devilmaycare wrote: »I have reported your harrasment of me. If you came in here to address the topic fine but you did not. Your only reason for posting was to continue a dispute from another room.
I have asked you in a very polite manner to stop following me around and having a go at me and you ignore me and continue to breach the rules on harassment.
I urge you to consider your position and stop harassing me.
No I was warning others there was a troll. I can post on another thread, if that was following you around everyone could say that.
There is no harassment from me, you are pathetic.0 -

Do you believe you are able to work? If not, I would discuss your mental state with your doctor and claim ESA (the replacement to Incacpacity Benefit). You may also be able to claim DLA on top of this. It can be quite daunting claiming so I would suggest an appointment with CAB or your local Welfare Rights Officer.
Have you thought about being referred to a CPN? They may be able to help you further and achieve your goal of getting back to work.
I was initially diagnosed with depression by my GP and put on a course of medication. This did not seem to help and was referred to a CPN and latterly a Consultant Psychiatrist. I have since been diagnosed with bi-polar disorder. I see my psychiatrist every three months and have been prescribed different medication (Lithium and Olanzapine). It may take several months for me to feel the benefit of the drugs but I am hopeful I will be able to get my bi-polar disorder under control.
Best wishes in whatever you choose to do.0 -

The last 4 topics you posted on were one I have visited... The only ones I have. Each time you did not address the OP but me.
Now what conclusion might be drawn from that?
Before you go off on another tangent for 'at the office' read 'pub' 'office' etc... somewhere where you would remember your manners
I really do not care what you have to say you are really boring me now.0
