Does the AT motherboard not have an ATX connector? I've fiitted an ATX PSU to an AT system before, just use the reset switch as soft-power.

Think either ebay or a computer fair will be your only hope - A local computer shop may have an old one lying around in a back room somewhere from an old machine. I know we have some but I guess you won't want to travel from Halifax to Ayrshire for one.

Could you post one to me? If so how much would I be looking at for the PSU and P&P?

The weight of a PSU is a few KG I would gestimate, so no idea what the P&P would be.

Don't you think that your AT machine is telling you something.

I would take it as a sign that I should be getting a new ( or better ) computer. You can get a base unit second hand for less than the price of a power supply.

Another good reason for not messing about with old AT psu's is that they have mains switching and its easy to electrocute yourself if you wire it up wrongly to the switch or fail to have a good earth.

    I'd bin it.

Who said anything about it been my machine? It's my grans freind, on a pension, eeking her way through life like most pensioners do. For what she does the computer is fine........she doesnt really need a 2gig PC to browse the net every 2 weeks or something. All it needs is a newer AT PSU.
