in Credit cards
OK, so I'm new to this!! I've never had a credit card before and am not entirely sure I understand it all.....
I have just got a new job, which I am due to start in January, but obviously that doesn't help with Christmas.
If I were to get a credit card to pay for Christmas, can I hold off paying my first credit card bill until February when I get my first pay cheque????
PLEASE can someone help?? I just don't know how else I'm going to be able to afford xmas!!!
Many thanks,
Stephanie

have you got any credit history at all ?? if not then i think it will be hard to get a CC, well not a decent apr rate one.0

I have a joint motgage with my hubby, no missed payments, no late payments.
I don't think getting the cc will be the problem, it's whether or not I can delay the payments????

payments may not be be an issue. dec 1st tomorrow. 10 days to sort it out [min] so your 1st bill should be
roughly around end jan. you could allways pay the min for the 1st time.0 -
You'll have to make at least the minimum payment in time for the date it's due by. Depending on when you get your card, that might be before you get paid. However the minimum payment on a credit card is small (typically the highest of 2% of the balance and £5). Even on a £1000 balance that's £20 or so. You could then make full repayments from the second month onwards and only pay interest for a month or two. Be aware (and afraid) that if you regularly make only the minimum repayment then in the long term you will pay enormous amounts of interest and it will take a very long time to pay off the debt.0

Or how about instead you tell family and friends that you're going to postpone Christmas for one month and they'll all get their presents at the end of Jan?I have just got a new job, which I am due to start in January, but obviously that doesn't help with Christmas.

If they're real friends they're not going to expect you to get into debt just for the sake of Xmas are they?
Or just agree with some that you're not going to buy any unnecessary presents this year. I certainly do that with some members of my family.0 -
or u can try to get one of the credit cards which give 6months or 12 months on purchases. halifax do one for 12months :beer:0

-
means you pay no interest for that period, but you will have to pay minimum payment still.0
-
halifax do 10 months 0% on purchases and sainsbury 12 months 0% for sainsbury shopping AND 3 MONTHS 0% on other purchases, minimum payments have to be made each month. there are several other cards that do these kind of offers0

Cancel Xmas and don't get a c c. Easy, it is a way of spending money you don't actually have. Xmas is one day and very over rated. Or if you must have xmas after your first wages cheque.
Credit is part of the problem why this country is in the !!!!!!.I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left. :rolleyes:0
