change of contractor problems

we moved into this property on 14 july. a council property. about a week before we moved the council changed their repairs contractors from Morrisons to Connaught.

there are a few issues that the council refuse to touch and fob us off with because the re-wiring and pre-let works were carried out by the old contractors 'morrisons'

namely - the bath overflow pipe is not connected properly which caused the kitchen to flood when water accidentally went over the bath overflow due to too deep a bath, the water pressure is absolutely !!!! in the bathroom. its not so bad in the kitchen but its not brilliant. the gas engineer states its not a boiler problem and the plumber states it is. the council put it down to morrisons.

and whoever did the rewiring of the light in the hallway was obviously stupid as !!!!!! as when you open the door it hits the bulb as the wire hangs too low.

ive sort of given up after being fobbed off again and again by the council who inform me that since they stopped using morrisons they cannot contact ANYONE and have a very long list of shoddy workmanship left by them to be dealt with and we will hear in due course.

erm when?

is this acceptable?

the council have the problem, whether they use old or new contractors, they own the reponsibility.

a lot of new houses have very low ceilings, which could be the problem with the light.

Put your complaints in writing. The council has to reply to you with in about 10 working days in writing.

If they don't do anything within a month then complain to your local councillors, your MP and if you have children contact the local paper say you will send them pictures of the shoddy and dangerous workmanship.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p
