Charity gifts for Christmas
Options
Hi, I hope someone can point me in the right direction.
I have previously given some members of the family charity gifts for Christmas, e.g. cataract operations for elderly people in India, chickens, farming aid, etc.
There was a website which gave information on which organisations made sure the maximum amount of money went to the intended organisation for the intended purpose. Now I can't find that website
Does anyone know about it?
Also, this year my mum would like her charity gift to be for children and I am struggling to choose one. Cancer has reared it's ugly head in our family this year and I'm wondering about a children's cancer charity or another charity to do with children's health.
Does anyone have any suggestions please?

Is it goodgifts.org? they have lots of gift vouchers from lots of different charities - UK ones, overseas ones, ones for kids, ones for the elderly - so you could get lots of charity gift vouchers all in one go.

Thanks Jane. That isn't the one I was thinking of, what I was thinking of was a site that that told you about different charities and how much of your donation actually went direct to the people meant to benefit and how much went in admin, etc. It was quite surprising to learn how small a percentage of the donation actually benefitted the intended in some cases!
However, I didn't know about goodgifts and there is a lot to choose from on their site. I will have a good look through and hopefully find something that will suit.0 -

Not that one Shirl, but it makes interesting reading.
Thanks anyway. I'll keep googling and hope to come across it again.0 -
I'd be interested in seeing a link if you do manage to find it.0

this year I'm giving teachers etc a donation through Justgiving.co.uk.
They have loads of charities. I am going to pick ones no one can object to(ie childrens hospice) then print out a receipt and put it with a token handmade craft.
For someone you know it would be easy to find a charity relevant to them ie cancer, mnd, animal rescue0 -
This child charity offers a free child friendly encyclopedia
http://www.soschildrensvillages.org.uk/charity-news/schools-wikipedia-christmas.htm which is simple and straight forward to use.0
