Not as simple as the title may imply, because I know about finding it using 'ipconfig'.
The Story.
My daughter came to stay for a few weeks and wanted to connect her Laptop via WiFi using our Router. Out of frustration in trying to get it to work I set her Laptop using the settings of my Laptop including IP address etc. Now what is happening is that when she is connected to our WiFi router we cannot get connected on our Laptop .... comes up with something like "IP address conflict with another system on the network". Running IpConfig shows 0's in the IP Address, Subnet Mask & Default Gateway.
Not my best move in setting her laptop with our details!!!!
How do we get her laptop back to using an IP address that won't conflict with our laptop when we both want to get on the internet at the same time??

It has taken about 4,500,000,000 (4.5 billion) years for the Earth to form as it is now .........
and it'll only take about another 100 years for mankind to really **** it up!!!!

Change the config in the laptop to "Obtain an IP address automatically" and let the DHCP in your router allocate IP addresses. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Go to your routers admin page normally its like 192.168.0.1. or along those lines it should say in the manual. Look for a part on the router about Address Reservation and type in a ip address like 192.168.0.3 find the mac address of the laptop and put that in. Do the same with the other laptop so you both have different local IP addresses.
What information did you have to enter into her laptop? O.o unless she is connecting thought your laptop?0 -
change the settings of your daughter's lappy to a different ip, ie 192.168.0.99 rather than xx.3.
or...
make sure dhcp is enabled on the router, and set the lappy to autoUtinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -

The last two posts show the public IP address not the local network IP address. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
