Halifax Standing Order

Options
I pay my mortgage by standing order on 1st of each month. Therefore tomorrow I would expect to see this on my bank statement. I have just been online to check my account and the standing order has been taken out today with a date of 1st December how does that work?

no idea, but the same has happened with my SO from my current account to my halifax reg saver. it shows on the reg saver as 1st december. as long as u have money in your current account, doesn't really matter tho.

The good news is that they are simply forward dating, which they sometimes do over a weekend.

Lord knows why - somewhat odd.

    1) It won't cost you anything.
    2) When statements are issued after the event you don't notice it.

I think it's a quirk of online servicing sitting on top of a 1970s mainframe system!

I've just ound something similar - I send money to my Halifax Regular Saver by standing order. Just logged in to online banking to change the standing order amount as don't think I'll have so much money to spare this month - only to find that the money has already moved (with a date of Dec 1st). Even stranger... just shuffled round some money to get me out of the overdraft that the 'early' standing order has put me into. That all shows up fine - but with todays date (ie before the standing order transaction).
Hopefully that means I've avoided actually going into my overdraft, but I'm still a little confused about what has happened!

ETA:Crossed posts with opinions4u - thanks for that info!
  • Thanks, now I have calmed down and thought about it I suppose it wouldn't have taken me overdrawn if I had chosen to do my online banking today as the credit would have shown as todays date hopefully. Just very wary at the moment with regards to Halifax, having had my overdarft facility taken away, my credit limit dropped on a credit card overnight and £35 charges for sending me an e-mail this month because a new DD of 7.99 came out a day sooner than I expected it to.

Not having a good time at the mo with finances seems like one step forward and two back no matter how hard I try!!
