I think there is too little info here at the moment for some people to respond effectively. What Operating System is installed (probably Windows XP)?
Do you have any of the original CDs that may have come with the computer (especially the Operating System installation disc)? Or do you have a copy of the desired Operating System along with a valid license key (I'm guessing you don't have the license key from your post)?
You can use Magical Jelly Bean's Keyfinder software (http://magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/) to list out your license keys but this won't be too much help if you don't have the installation discs too.
Have you considered/tried using Windows Restore Points (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/systemrestore.mspx) to roll back all changes if you don't have the CDs?0 -
il try that,
Any idea why it wont boot it says somethings compressed on the loading page where all the data bus writing is before windows logo and it says ntlea or something is com pressed and then it says reboot thats as far as it will go, wont even go into safe mode.
I thought they was a hot key to reset back to factory settings, only c.d i got was for microsoft templates thats all.0 -
what version of Windows ??
suspect it's NTLDR is compressed , and its Xp

An NTLDR is compressed error is pretty easy to fix(much better then NTLDR is missing errors!).
First you need to boot to the recovery console.
To boot to the recovery console follow these steps:
1. Insert the Windows XP CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive, and then restart the computer. Click(or press any key) to select any options that are required to start the computer from the CD-ROM drive if you are prompted.
2. When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console.
3. When prompted type "1" or if you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot computer, select the installation that you must access from the Recovery Console.
4. When you are prompted, type the Administrator password. If the administrator password is blank, just press ENTER.
5. Now you should be at the comman prompt and ready to repair the ntldr file!
Now all you need to do is enter the following commands(in order) and each command on a new line just like you see them here:
cd \
attrib -c ntldr
exit
Your computer should now reboot, and everything "should" work!
(you can do this with ANY XP cd you can borrow , does not have to be for e-systems)Ex forum ambassador
