What the hell are Barclays doing? All Current account holders login to check!

Hi all,

I've just logged in to my online banking to find that Barclays have listed several transactions on the 1/12/08, as this post will show, the date today is 30/11/08.

I've written to their complaints department, but what the hell is going on?

Does anyone else with a barclays current account have this same problem? :(

Does your Barclays account have transactions from the future? 7 votes

Yes it does, I didn't know banks could time travel!

Lloyds do the same. It is just transactions that they know are in the system. I find it quite helpful.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.
  • I have found this on my Barclays account most sundays they put all the monday D/Ds and transations dated with Mondays date, its a cheek isnt it.
I know you have said you have complained to them but they i'm sure won't do anything about it, they are a law unto themselves. We are only the clients they don't care.

It would be fine if they just showed as upcoming transactions and did not debit from your current balance, or something similar, but this is different:

I was shopping today and those transactions show up as the 1st of Dec instead of today's date! Standing orders (set to go out on the 1st) have also come out early and taken from my current balance.

Standing orders are set for a particular day for a reason, not to be taken out round about a certain date!

(oh and thanks for your quick posts so far!) :)

Monday's transactions can normally be viewed on the Lloyds TSB website by 1200 -1400 Hrs on a Sunday. I agree that it is helpful.

this is standard practice , where the payment is due on a monday the transaction always shows close of buisness friday.

Natwest do the same. Any payment due out or in the system on a monday shows up first thing on the Saturday morning. I find this useful tbh.

Where's the option on your poll to say 'Yes it does and I know how the system operates'

  • To be fair though, when I'm due to be paid on Monday, that money becomes available at 00:00 on Saturday, so it works both ways (I'm with Yorkshire Bank).
