Hi, everytime I go to open my USB stick it asks me if I want to format it. Is there any way that I can retrieve the files from the stick? Cheers Lenny

try popping it in the freezer overnight - I did this with a dead hard drive and sure enough it came back to life just long enough to transfer the files, then died again after 20 minutes. Sounds an urban myth I know but it worked - something to do with tiny burnt out circuitry being reconnected temporarily by the contraction of the cold. Anyway this was with a hard drive so might not apply to flash drives, but nothing to lose...0

You might want to try PC Inspector File Recovery:

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I get the impression that most flash drive failures are due to the controller, rather than a problem with the actual flash memory, meaning that information cannot be recovered as it cannot be accessed through the controller. But, for lennymfo's sake, hopefully that isn't the case with his flash drive.
