I understand the frustration guys... don't know weather I can be bothered to explain to OP that THE INCREASE IN DUTY IS TO OFFSET THE INCREASE IN VAT SO THE PRICE WON'T CHANGE.
I can imagine there will be alot of numpties at the pumps on Sunday evening queing up to fill their cars.0 -
why the insults ?
i should explain further , i am self employed electrician.
(But the change means the self-employed and company owners pay more tax as they can only claim back VAT at 15pc rather than 17.5pc.)
i dont think they will be as you put it "Numpties" Loofer . oh well , put it onto the customers bill then.

be from midnight mate (sunday) vat off and then tax on.
well spotted OP i hadnt thought about it really.;)
yet another stealth tax on the small buisness man by CLown !
and as you say Rich the general public will ultimately pick up the tab .0 -

I don't know if I can be bothered to point out that the VAT decrease is for a year, while the additional duty is permanent, and that businesses will be paying more due to the decreased amount they can claim back.0 -

Go flat rate, you'll pay no more.0 -
Not all self employed can claim back vat unless they are registered so it wont make much difference now but it will when they put the vat back up.They won't reduce the duty then will they.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

this increase will be felt by the Haulage industry who are hard pressed anyway.
the cost of delivering goods will be put onto us the customer.
so it will make a differance.
And the added burden of altering the stationary/invoices for the next 12 months only adds FUEL:rolleyes: to the fire0
