When I have a message left on 1571, I cannot connect to the internet via my broadband connection. It tells me there is "no dial tone". Once I clear 1571, it works fine as long as I restart the computer
How can I remedy this?

Jet - It might be worth messing around with the filters.
I understand that there can be some interference from 1571 if your ADSL modem and filter is hooked into a phone extension cable, rather than directly into the main BT socket.
Might be worth sticking another filter on the main socket to see if that resolves it. Other posters might have alternative ideas!0 -
The phone line comes into my house into a closed socket and then 2 lines are run in one cable around the room where the line comes into the house.
I'm wondering if that means the only socket I have is actually a secondary socket, the primary socket being the 'closed in' thing on the other side of the room?0 -
Try this, it works for normal dial-up modems...
Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Phone and Modem Options
Click on the Modems Tab
Select the required Modem and click on Properties
Click on the Modem Tab
Uncheck the box under Dial Control that says Wait for dial tone before dialling
Click OK then OK again.0
