Storing a sofa outside

I recently sold my sofa on ebay and the winning bidder asked if it was ok to collect 2/3 weeks after the auction had ended.
At the time I advised them that I was yet to have a delivery date for my new sofa so things should be fine and we would agree something closer to the date.
The delivery company are delivering next Thursday and but my buyer can't come until at least Saturday morning - if I remove all the cushions and store them upstairs do you think it would be really bad to store the sofa outdoor for two days.
I am really set back from the road in a small village and you don't really know that we are here unless you know that we are so security won't be an issue. I have a hardstanding at the front and I was planning to put a water proof sheet down first and then cover in a very large waterproof sheet over and securely make sure that the sofa is completely covered so won't suffer and rain damage.
I don't have the room internally for new and old sofa and I don't have a garage - what would you do?
Thanks

Personally I think its a bit dicey leaving it outside at this time of year due to the possibility of damp. Can you not put the delivery company off until the Monday after?0

I think you'd be surprised how hard it is to really weatherproof anything left outside.
If you can't change the delivery date, is there anyone who could let you use a dry space for a couple of days? Village hall?0 -
I personally wouldnt store it outside as things get damp so quickly. I think I would either ask if they could come earlier or store it elsewhereTRYING hard to be a good money saver :rolleyes:0

i recently bought 2 new setees and another chair so was getting rid of 2 cream leather setees, decided to put it on ebay but then darling big bruv said he wanted them for his flat. Like an idiot i said yes but had nowhere to store them so i wrapped them up in plastic sheets sellotaped together on my patio. One month later i checked them and they were both completely rotten, covered in black mould and stunk as the leather haqd sweated.
So no way would i store anything outside again.0
