Archers Direct - haggling help

Anyone here successfully haggled/negotiated a deal with Archers Direct? If so please can you tell your story and offer some tips.
Also, as a rough guide, when do tour companies drop their prices (besides late availability) - is there a good time of the year (especially in the credit crunch) when they'll be desperate for bookings?
Thanks

Having a quick look they do a price match try and find it cheaper elsewhere or even by putting it together yourself and try and get them to match it.

Also they are willing to knock £50 off holidays taken before Apr 2010, maybe ask if the will do this pp.
  • No the price match has to be a brochure tour on the exact same day, flight etc i.e. near impossible.
And the £50 off is once you've been with them in the past - so thanks but need to keep thinking please!

Most travel agents have january sales like all other shops but im not sure about the direct versions. December is a good month to haggle for a discount cause most people are out christmas shopping. Have you checked if any other operator does the hotel you're looking for as usually several tour ops have allocations and they all sell at different prices, also check for things like thomsons give you nectar points if you book with them and you have a nectar card, thomas cook have their own credit card which gives you 2% back on the price of your hol and no cc fees, 1% on spend elsewhere. Also would a travel agent give you free insurance, cheap parking at the airport, vip rate on your currency etc.
  • Thanks Steph but it isn't just one hotel - its a full tour and it is really this one we need for various reasons but find it hard to believe that in the current climes the price you see has to be the price you pay.
