Linksys wireless card with Windows ME not working, Help!

Recently bought a Linksys router/modem and wireless card. The wireless network is fine and so is the laptop with another wireless adapter.
The Linksys wireless adapter shows power but no signal and shows as inactive, have already exchanged the card for another one but just the same. I believe the wireless settings are correct on the linksys software, are there any windows settings that i could check? Have checked in device history properties and all appears ok. Anything else??

Did you install the drivers (from CD) before plugging in the wireless card - if not, WinME may have installed some generic drivers. I had a problem with a new wireless card - tried it in a laptop which had an 'old' install (at least 6 months 'old'). Although the cards claim to be the same, the new card was showing as inactive even though it could connect - removed 'old' drivers, installed new ones and all was well..

Thanks for the thought but i put the drivers in before the Linksys card. I thought its because i already had a wireless USB device installed and it doesn't like having both cards, to this end i disabled the old wireless device in device manager and restarted the computer but this hasn't worked either, do i need to disable the dialup modem aswell, is that it??

Problem solved!
I had to remove the software from the previous usb wireless adapter i was using , obvious really!

But not so obvious, In addition to this i also had to remove the software from a usb 'bluetooth' device i had on my laptop. I guess the bluetooth software changed some settings that then stopped the computer driver recognising the network adapter.

Glad you sorted it - I'd have never twigged the bluetooth (never used it). I have the wireless card, dial-up, and a separate network card and seems to work whichever is plugged in.

Unfortunately I'm having broadband problems (another story) so am back on dial up... ugh.
