Free M & S wrapping paper pack

Just buy today's Daily Telegraph (1.60) and there is a voucher for a luxury wrapping paper pack, available in red and gold. Normal price is 5 pounds. Just take the voucher to the M & S giftshop section, and they should have them behind the till. SA was surprised they were so popular now as they had been trying to shift them for weeks. I pointed out that they were great value for free, but silly expensive for 5 pounds. Whilst in there, I also picked up a half price Indian curry meal for 4.99, normnally 9.99. Bargain.

Does the wrapping paper have to be collected today, or do you get a bit more time to use the voucher?
Thanks for the post, by the way!

£5 for 2 sheets of wrapping paper and a few bows? It must be really nice to be worth that!

Reports are this is on 3 for 2 or even BOGOF - might be worth asking if you can get this offer with the voucher.

I did use it with the 3 for 2 offer, so got another item free as well. The till didn't recognise the voucher though, they had to manually deduct £5 from my bill.
  • I called at M&S this afternoon but was told the offer ran out at 10 am nationwide - no offer to make it up some other way. This is a scandal - the offer undoubtedly sold a lot more Telegraphs as it was a large colour banner headline and I understand they will repeat it on Sunday - don't bother. I see some forum members were able to use the voucher for the 2 for 1 offer but this was refused at the Harrogate store. Grrrrr.....

I got mine at around 4.30 and it says on the voucher you could use it today or tomorrow I thought...(I don't have the voucher so I can't check).

  • I don't normally buy The Telegraph - I bought it specifically for this offer. But when I went to a (large-ish) branch of M&S, just on midday, I was told they were "all gone" and given an uninterested shrug when I asked for a replacement.

I asked for Customer Services and complained - I had made a special journey just to collect this, and quite frankly I am unamused at the number of newspapers who do this. Just when does a banner headline promising "Gift X for every reader!" become a lie? Trading Standards should have a look at this. After all, if the banner headline were to read "we are sending 50 packs of this to a few stores - try your luck if you like", ... how many papers would they sell then?

Customer Services were equally impassive: 'No, we don't have any. We only got a few. People were here from 8am trying to collect them'. I stood my ground and told them that I would be complaining as the newspaper was due to run the voucher in the Sunday run as well - how many disappointed people did that make?

A manager was called - and guess what? "I have some here that have not been collected - here, have this" she said, sweetly, handing me the gift pack. From the top of a pile behind the desk.

Hmmm! Staff pilfering the freebies for themselves, I think! THAT's why there aren't any.

Disgusting all round though. Hasn't made me think a single nice thing about either M&S, or The Telegraph!
