Help - on top of £1000 car bill TV aerial has now packed up!!!!!
Haven't had to buy one for years so no idea of price.
Any idea how much I should be paying?
At the mo I only have BBC 1, 2 ITV & Ch4. I hardly watch TV so have never bothered with Ch 5 or Freeview - but it seems a bit silly not to get an aerial covering these, so will get one with these on it.
Thanks.

Last time I had one done it was £40 all in for supply and fitting to the roof. That was four years ago and I'm in a reasonably good signal area.
Good luck

You'll be paying around £100 fitted for a so called Digital Aerial (There is no such thing, they are just wideband). Make sure they include a new down lead.
My advice would be to ask a neighbour who has had a new one fitted to recommend a supplier, and not pick one at random from the local free paper.

My nan had one fitted a few months ago on her roof. They quoted £95 for a normal ariel, and £116 for a digital compatible (freeview) ariel. This was for supply/fit (on the roof), and new cable installation down to the back of the TV.
With the proposed switch to digital signals in the coming years, it seems worthwhile going for a digital compatible ariel. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

We managed to buy a discontinued aerial in Homebase a couple of weeks ago. It was £10 and it can pick up Freeview if you have a box... We've put it up in the loft and it work's fine. The other aerials in homebase were £30-40, but there was two of these discontinued ones...0

Oooppsss... appears it was only the Sandy transmitter down for a few hours.... Thought it just the 3rd of my 3 bad lucks this year (£1000 car bill, £175 shower). Guess 3rd is still to come....:o
Thanks for replies though, am now prepared for when it does go....A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0
