My website and email hosting is with a company that is, by it's own admission, having financial issues.
If their operation goes Belly up, what are the issues to me, and do you feel that i should transfer my hosting now, and if so, who would you suggest?
Thanks in anticipation.

I am a fee charging WoM Mortgage broker.
I now no longer give information and opinion within the Mortgage boards, because a number of posters who, having approached me professionally, agreed my fee-which has been been made very clear at the outset, taken my advice (normally cancelling a [home visit] meeting at short notice) have then approached one of the fee-free brokers on here to arrange the very same deal I have advised.
Whilst I totally concur with the ethos of "money saving"- abusing the goodwill of a professional who provides a quality service is taking it too far!

There is a free hosting alternative tip in this thread. I'd take a backup of your site, just in case..

Personally, I would transfer the site to another host to ensure nothing goes wrong and you don't have any downtime. I can recommend two very good and effecient hosts, that I have had great experiences with in the past.
In no particular order:- 1&1 Internet (Part of Schlund & Partner AG): http://www.1and1.co.uk/
- catalyst2: http://www.catalyst2.com/
The transfer process is usually very easy and doesn't require much work from you after you initialise it.
I would also ensure you have a backup copy of your site and any databases (if your site uses them). If you have e-mails, I would redirect them to another address temporarily.0 -
