Downgrading SKY package

I tried to call them to downgrade and get rid of the film channels that we never watch and to try and call their bluff a bit with the sports package and see if i could get a bit of a discount for a few months. Their employee told me that because i was late paying a couple of weeks previously i couldn`t downgrade for a month after they had reconnected me.
I asked him if this was in the T&C`s as i had read through them on the website the night before and didn`t see that. He assured me it was and to call back in a couple of weeks if i still wanted to down grade.
I checked the T&C`s again and couldn`t find a reference to it anywhere so i sent them an email - to which i have had no reply. That was 2 weeks ago.
Has anyone else heard of this? I`ve had the account for a few years so it`s not a case of keeping it for a year before you can cancel.
It`s very easy to upgrade on-line with a click - but you can`t down grade, you have to call a special team who only seem to work office hours. So that`s fine if you don`t mind all your work mates knowing your business! This is a bit of bad practice i think though the member of staff said it wasn`t to make it difficult to downgrade, it`s so customers don`t get confused - yeah right.
I would just like to know if this is right before i call them back.

I cancelled movies without a problem, just a "threat" that cancelling movies meant I would no longer receive the Sky mag which was met with uncontrollable laughter at this end of the phone.
I then wanted to cancel sports a couple of weeks later but had to wait til a month had passed since movies had been cancelled - my package change had to be in effect for 1 month before a further downgrade. If you say you're cancelling because of the affordability, you might get offered 1/2 price on the channels, but if you don't want it anyway then it's still paying out for something you don't require. After posting about receiving an email to my MSE username/email from 'Money Expert' (note the use of ' '), I am now unable to post on MSE. Its true you cant downgrade in the first month, after that you can downgrade once a month and of course you can upgrade as many times as you like a month :rolleyes:0

Thanks guys.
I can understand the reason for not allowing you to change your package for a month as people would just upgrade to watch one football match then get the channels removed and it would be hard for them to charge for a couple of hours viewing. But why can`t i downgrade for a month after my sky was reconnected? That`s the bit i can`t see in the T&C`s.:huh:0
