Can the boiler be fitted into the loft on a mid terraced house???? I thought they had to be mounted on a solid wall, whereas in a mid terrace it would just be tiles surely????? My daughter is just about to have one fitted in her very tiny terrace, there is no room in her kitchen, less room in her bathroom so she has opted for the small bedroom, if it could be put in the loft it would be great!!!!

They may have to build a stud wall to mount it on and make sure that that itself is well supported over a load bearing wall preferably. Most boilers now can be mounted on combustible surfaces so there shouldn't be a need to mount it on fire-proof board. The flue can go vertically through the roof, although this will add substantially to the cost due the extra cost of the flue kit and the roof work that will need to be done.

Our boiler is mounted in the attic, occasionally the preasure drops and I have to go up and re fill the boiler takes a few minutes now I know how to do it. moving the boiler up there allowed us to fit an extra 2 cupbords in the kitchen where to old boiler was.

The floor was covered untill the storage tank overflowed while we were on holiday and it came through the ceiling a few years ago, no permanent ladder infact access just got alot worse as I have a bigger wardrobe now under the hatch but it isnt too bad.

Best desision you could make, the noise has gone, get a thermostat and control box in the living area and you will be laughing.

MSP what are you views on Vokera boilers? our plumber recomended one we also got these strange radiators where they have a loop of pipe and loads of fins and then a panel over the front of them like a chinmey, they work really well heating the rooms but are no good for putting your hands on when its cold.

Vokera isn't something I would fit, but I've heard mixed reports about them, some good some bad. I think you're referring to LST radiators, usually used in schools and hospitals to prevent vulnerable people burning themselves on them.
