You do realise how much bollox that is - the number of times I've asked for a price match only for you to pull out some excuse such as 'we sent someone but couldn't see the price ticket, or item wasn't on display' etc - you know on electrical goods that 99.9% of the time you are charging 10-30% more than your competitors.
    ###################
I had a price match, including a free DAB radio,(posted elsewhere)honoured last week.
Perhaps you need to show the courtesy that vyle and brasso50 have done in their posts and also supply JL with the name/location of the cheaper version.
I did this with a local Curry's and am delighted with the JL response, attitude and service.
If this is so: '.....99.9% of the time you are charging 10-30% more than your competitors', use the Never Knowingly Undersold policy to your advantage and receive the better guarantees that JL offer f.o.c.
Check your spelling of '!!!!!!!!', too:rolleyes:

and that the price is for the exact model. Every letter and number in a model name is important. for instance, simply putting "sony BRAVIA" isn't enough because every TV sony puts out is a Bravia.

    Really? I never knew that...

I am quite aware of make/model and location of the items that I've asked to be pricematched - vyle and brasso50 seem to be far from courtious and toe the company line stating that out of warranty = tough luck and other such customer service gems.

erm, that's what I was trying to do, but it's a complete misadvertisement. Have a look on avforums at the number of people who get turned down - infact 'never knowingly undersold my ars3 - how about

Surprisingly, a lot of people don't know that, and in replies I'm not going to assume a level of knowledge, because those are some very common mistakes.

I am quite aware of make/model and location of the items that I've asked to be pricematched - vyle and brasso50 seem to be far from courtious and toe the company line stating that out of warranty = tough luck and other such customer service gems.

I'm merely offering advice based on my understanding of the system and the situation. I don't know why a lot of people here assume that everybody who works for a retailer is the spawn of satan and has been specially trained in plausible deniability and legal loopholes, as if it's some form of x files conspiracy.

All I'm doing is putting things in perspective. I've explained how the undersales work, I've explained how refunds and various offers work. I'm not an expert in law, if I was I'd be in a much higher paying job than I am.

So many people post on here, saying how they went into shops all guns blazing and from the sound of it abused shop staff who had nothing personally to do with the complaint in the first place.

I get customers who scream "YOU DID X Y and Z, AND I DEMAND THIS AND THAT" and it baffles me. I didn't sell the product personally, so I don't expect to be treated like a thug, and it's not like shouting will make any difference.

If those same customers are the ones who come here and state that 'the arrogant so and so in the shop didn't do this, didn't give me a free car and halve the price of everything in the shop, so i told him to do one' then I find it quite disgusting.

The point of this site isn't to demonise shop staff, or to encourage them to try to intimidate and bully shop staff into giving freebies. I hope that people will try and be a bit more courteous after reading my posts, because we are people too, surprisingly, and for a huge number of the complaints on the forum, the front line staff have their hands tied. Why people would happily try to bully somebody into potentially losing their job for the sake of £5 is beyond me.

So all I've been trying to show is how the systems work, what the staff (and to an extent company) can and can't do. It's not out of being evil, and it's not for the money, because I'm doing this post on my half hour lunch break. I'm doing it so the readers understand a little better what the situations are, and hopefully show some respect to shop staff. I wouldn't dream of going into anybody here's workplace and abuse them the way that people are happy abuse us.

Please remember, we're not evil and out to rip you off, we're people who are trying their best to help and do their job. We may not always get it right, but we do try, so please, try not to treat us like terrorists because we can't bend to your every whim.

You didn't say before that it was an online price you wanted to match. Those and catalogue prices have never been matched. the posters and leaflets mention that, too.

I just wanted to say in praise of JL that we bought a Panasonic TV from them and they did price match, it resulted in our paying significantly less than we had budgeted as well as getting a better guarantee. Of course they have a set of rules, on some other items we haven't got the price we wanted and we went elsewhere. I'm not going to get hot under the collar about it, I'm just going to take my money to someone else.

Thanks though to the JL people for explaining better how the system works.

I don't know why retailers are currently the spawn of satan vyle, but according to these forums, at times so are bank workers, anyone who works in a call centre, council workers and anyone who claims any kind of benefit including pensioners. At least you are not alone ;)

Well at least you can't find fault with me saying that they're misleading customers with their big signs of 'Never Knowingly Undersold' and have to stoop to the lowest level of picking faults in spelling.

Do you go through other peoples posts correcting the use of to and too or their, they're and there? Or is this purely that you feel you can't win an arguement with logic and reasoning?
  • To go back to the original point, I've also wanted a KitchenAid mixer for ages. With the help of my parents, I decided to get one for Christmas (early, so I can do lots of Christmas baking!).

I bought one earlier this week in House of Fraser when they had their 10% discount on electrical appliances (at £316 - eek!), but took it back when I saw amazon.co.uk were selling it for £305.10.

I've just been on amazon, put it in my basket, shopped around for a few other items, gone to check out and they'd hiked the price to £339 within an hour! I was absolutely horrified. I've abandoned my whole order and written to customer services, but I doubt it will do any good.

Biasco are selling them for £309 (plus £20 postage) with a 10% discount (just under £300 all in) - but I've read such awful things about them on the mse boards I'm a bit reluctant to order from them.

It's a real shame as I was hoping to get this in time to make cakes and puddings for xmas!
  • Thing is it's going to !!!! everything up. Most prices ended in 9p, now all that will have to change.

I wonder what will happen in the end!?!?!

    Hi rachelina,

I've been buying presents on Amazon and had the same problem - they changed the price while they were in my shopping basket, yet VAT isn't even charged on books. Amazon does have a very dynamic pricing policy and things are regularly changed, but even so, I didn't expect the price to change in the time I was doing my Christmas shopping.

  • During my search for the cheapest Kitchen Aid Mixer I've put discount kitchensid artisan in google and always received a link to amazon quoting prices of around £276 - always a complany called Kitchenware.co.uk. Once you get to their site, click on the picture of the ream mixer quotinf £266 and immediately one the next page though the prices rocket to £339. I've e-mailed amazon and been told this is ok, not breaking any rules and perfectly acceptable.

I can't believe this is acceptable.
