Excellent idea thanks kb36 - they don't appear to be offering tickets, more just a general open door policy. I think my gf will be interested (if the trains are running?)0

This is a really good post for those who can use it - its something like £10.00 entry to get in and they make it look extra nice at Christmas/New Year.
Haven't seen it advertised anywhere so thanks for posting!!!!!!0 -
Fantastic!!0

Thought this deserved to be bumped, as it's a lovely way to start the new year! Have checked re. train times and South Eastern are running a normal Sunday service from Kent-London (I'm sure the others will be much the same!)0

New Year's Day 2009
To celebrate the start for Kew's 250th year we are opening our gates for free on 1 January and inviting you to blow off those Christmas cobwebs with a walk around Kew's unique, historic landscape. What better way to start the new year?[STRIKE]30:22[/STRIKE]

prrrrrrrops. can kill 2 birds wiv 1 stone as they do ice skating nearby too?!0

Hi chuckley - there is an ice rink there but (from what I can remember) the ticket to this is separate from the cost of entry into the actual gardens. Last couple of years we have been able to go and got in free and enjoyed carol singing (now over as is past Crimbo) & walking around lovely gardens with lighting/atmosphere etc but cost to ice-rink, buying mulled wine etc. is separate. Def. still worth going for free entry to lovely gardens but rest is optional cost.
Edit - From what I remember cost to skate is about £8.00 - £10.00 per person but is still really worth going for for free entry to gardens and atmosphere even if you don't skate.0
