  • Do you mean you want to extract "the best bits" would this be just sound or some stills? OR edit the home video via software then create a new DVD?
  • If you have Windows XP you will already have the progamme "windows movie maker" - just check under programmes. It's very easy to use and you can edit quite easily and do various transitions and titles as well.

Something more sophisticated would be Adobe Premiere but it is expensive. Windows Movie Maker does a great job for basic stuff.

YouTube often has videos of tutorials on various software for movie editing.

Windows Movie Maker would be the first thing to look for.

Assuming you're using a PC with Windows XP or Vista...

But then for macs you have iMovie, don't you?
Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.
  • Ive got windows movie maker, how do i copy the dvd to the pc? Do i need a dvd ripper?
  • Hmm..that's the more tricky bit. I've only ever used footage taken from VHS (originally from cine film!) and I use something called Hauppage Win TV to capture onto my PC.

However, I have found this thread which might help you

Hopefully someone else will come along with some better techie knowledge.
